Traveling stability refers to the ability of the crane to resist
overturning and skidding in the running state. Instability may occur in two
ways, parallel to or perpendicular to the travel path. The stability of these
two states are called longitudinal traveling stability and transverse traveling
The lateral running stability is mainly manifested as rollover or sideslip during driving. The main reasons are large turning speed, small radius, large centrifugal force, or too fast driving speed when the cross slope or road inclines. The main technical measures to prevent the crane from losing stability in running state are to control the driving speed, control the climbing angle and reasonable turning radius.
When the crane is driving on the hillside, two situations may occur in case of instability. One is that when the wheel pressure of the front wheel (steering wheel) is zero, the wheel is almost suspended, unable to control the driving direction and losing the maneuverability. The other is that when the wheel pressure of the driving wheel is too small or the adhesion is not enough, the wheel slips, and even the car body slides along the slope.
